Where Movement Begins and Confidence Takes Flight

Join Nigel the Magpie and Sasha the Sugar Glider as they guide little legends across Adelaide through playful, purposeful movement — one jump, one glide, and one smile at a time.

From the playgrounds of Adelaide to the curious corners of early learning centres, Nigel the Magpie and Sasha the Sugar Glider are on a mission — to help little learners jump, glide, balance, and grow.

Through fun, story-led sessions, these two beloved mascots guide children aged 2–5 through the essential building blocks of movement. Whether it’s Nigel leading the first joyful jump or Sasha challenging kids to stretch and glide with confidence, every wobble is part of the learning.

Together, they’re not just teaching skills — they’re creating a movement culture that helps children across Adelaide move with purpose and play with heart.

Movement is the first language of learning.

At Mini Magpies, we believe every hop, skip and jump lays the foundation for lifelong confidence, coordination and curiosity. Our mission is to equip early learning centres with the tools, training and joyful energy they need to deliver high-impact movement experiences — every day, in every room.

Led by Nigel the Magpie and supported by EYLF-aligned resources, we help educators turn ordinary floor time into extraordinary growth time.

Nigel the Magpie

Ages 2-3

Nigel introduces children to the joyful world of movement by building the foundations of coordination, balance and body awareness. Sasha the Sugar Glider

Ages 4-5

Sasha supports older preschoolers as they refine and combine movement skills in more complex ways. She focuses on agility, direction changes, striking, kicking, and controlled leaping — helping children build muscular strength, reaction time, and teamwork through imaginative challenges. Sasha invites children to take risks, stretch their physical limits, and glide toward readiness for sport and school. With Sasha, movement becomes adventure — fast, creative, and full of purpose.

Building Little Legends… One Wobble at a Time.

Building Little Legends… One Wobble at a Time.

Because every jump, skip and stumble is a step toward confidence, coordination, and joy.

My name is Riza Jusary — I’m a Physical Educator of 20 years and the founder of Mini Magpies, a movement-based programme that helps children aged 2–5 develop foundational skills through structured play.

With years of experience in teaching and multisport programmes, I understand what centres need: a programme that’s simple to deliver, EYLF-aligned, and genuinely engaging for children. That’s why Mini Magpies isn’t just a resource — it’s a system. We offer ready-to-run lesson packs, educator PD, and playful mascots like Nigel the Magpie that kids connect with immediately.

My mission is to empower educators to confidently lead physical literacy experiences — even if they’ve never taught “movement” before. Because with the right tools, every room can become a space where little legends grow.
